Standard

This is what I see when I listen to this song:

Picture a couple. They are in the midst of disaster. The man is going to leave her, he is leaving for battle. She is begging him to stay, pleading, crying, tugging at his hand. Her voice is the piano, his is the cello. He can’t stay, he has to perform his duty. She pleads, refusing to give up. She reminds them of their past, he says it’s impossible, he will be arrested. She offers to leave everything behind, they can move to Canada. His pride does not allow him to surrender, his heart strings have nearly snapped. She falls on her knees, realizing that it is useless. She surrenders…he is gone.
